The difference between Blinds and Shades
Shades have no slats or vanes and offer a smooth look to your windows; hence, they are called soft window treatments as the fabric and feeling of the shade is warm and flowing. Although you cannot adjust for light filtering, as with blinds, you can choose different levels of opacity for light preferences.
Below is a brief description of types of shades we can provide:
- Cellular Shades : Cellular shades are a window covering used to block or filter light and insulate windows to save energy. Cell size can vary. Cell shapes hold trapped air and create a barrier between the window surface and the room. Cellular shades can be constructed as single cell, double cell, or triple cell shades
- Roman Shades : Roman shades are a type of window covering used to block out the sun. Roman shades are different from standard window shade in that they stack up evenly when being opened; however, when they are open, they are visibly smooth, not bumpy or ribbed like typical vertical shades or blinds.
- Roller Shades : Roller shades are a piece of cloth or plastic for covering a window that is rolled around a pole fixed to the top of the window. These are extremely popular; especially for bathrooms as they can be easily rolled down for complete privacy as well as rolled upward for permitting light to the rooms.
- Sheer Shades : Sheer shades are an elegant combination of a blind and a shade. The soft inner vanes behave as a blind by tilting opened and closed as they are encased on the front and back by a soft, delicate layer of sheer fabric.
